Truncated values and excessive spaces in the ArcGIS Online and Enterprise portal attribute table

Description

In ArcGIS Online and the ArcGIS Enterprise portal, long attribute values are not wrapped, causing important information to be truncated, and short values leave excessive spaces in the attribute table.

Cause

The attribute table is designed to maintain a compact table view in ArcGIS Online and the ArcGIS Enterprise portal. Text wrapping is not available by default, and column widths are automatically set.

Solution or Workaround

Resize the attribute table column width

Note:
This workflow applies to both truncated values and excessive spaces in the attribute table. It provides a temporary view of the attribute values, but the adjusted column widths are not preserved when the web map is refreshed.

1. Open the web map with the feature layer in Map Viewer.
2. View the attribute table of the feature layer. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Show a feature layer's table for instructions.
3. Adjust the table column width.
   1. Hover over the edge of the column header until the cursor changes to a resize handle icon.
   2. Click and drag the resize handle icon to adjust the column width as desired.

Note:
This workflow is effective for truncated values and is recommended when only a few truncated values are present in the attribute table.

1. Repeat Steps 1 and 2 from the previous workaround.
2. Hover over the truncated values.
