PROBLEM
In ArcGIS Pro, attempting to run the Zonal Statistics as Table tool fails and the following generic error is returned:
Error: Error 99999: Something unexpected caused the tool to fail.
Depending on the cause, the following workarounds are applicable.
Note: The Zonal Statistics as Table tool requires the Spatial Analyst or Image Analyst license.
In ArcGIS Pro, use the Resample tool to reduce the pixel size below the zone size. Esri recommends using the Nearest resampling technique as the technique minimizes alterations to the pixel values while adding more cells, making it ideal for use with the Zonal Statistic as Table tool. However, note that reducing pixel size increases data volume. Therefore, carefully consider the extent of pixel size reduction.
When the input raster data is too large, use theĀ Create Map Tile Package tool or theĀ Manage Tile Cache tool to create a smaller, manageable subset of data. Then, run the Zonal Statistics as Table tool on the output subset.
Another option is to work on a specific area of the data by clipping the area with the Clip Raster tool instead of working on the entire dataset.
Alternatively, generalize the raster data to remove unnecessary details for general analysis. For more information on tools for generalization, refer to ArcGIS Pro: An overview of the Generalization toolset.
Specifying a large value for 'Maximum number of values to display' can cause performance issues, potentially causing the tool to fail. In ArcGIS Pro, navigate to the Project tab and click Options > Raster and Imagery > Raster Dataset. For Maximum number of values to display, set the value to the default 65,536, or a lower number.
Use the Repair Geometry tool to repair broken geometries within the feature class. For more information, refer to ArcGIS Pro: Tools for checking and repairing geometries.
Shapefile is a legacy format with limitations and does not support the advanced capabilities available in geodatabases. To resolve the issue, export the shapefile to a feature class file geodatabase using the Export Features tool. For more information, refer to ArcGIS Pro: Export a shapefile.
