The Update features and Add and update features options are disabled in ArcGIS Online

Description

In ArcGIS Online, when attempting to update data on the item page of the hosted feature layer, the 'Update features' and 'Add and update features' options are disabled in the 'Update data' window, as shown in the image below.

Cause

The 'Enable sync' option is checked for the hosted feature layer. Enabling this setting only allows features to be added, not updated.

Solution or Workaround

Note:
This workflow is only applicable to the owner of the hosted feature layer or administrators.

1. Log in to ArcGIS Online.
2. Navigate to Content > My Content.
3. Navigate to and click the hosted feature layer.
4. On the hosted feature layer's item page, click Settings.
5. Scroll down to the Feature layer (hosted) section and disable the Enable sync (required for offline use and collaboration) toggle button.
6. Click Save.
