The option to take photos is unavailable in ArcGIS QuickCapture

Description

ArcGIS QuickCapture allows users to capture locations, field conditions, and photos, with quick access to the camera icon on the top-left corner of each button in a project. However, in some instances, the camera icon does not display on some of the buttons, as demonstrated in the image below.

Cause

• The button’s capability to take photos is disabled in the ArcGIS QuickCapture project settings.
• The Take Photo option is enabled in ArcGIS QuickCapture, but the editing capability of the project's hosted feature layer is not enabled in ArcGIS Online.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, use one of the following options to resolve the issue.

Configure the button settings to enable the take photo option in ArcGIS QuickCapture Web Designer

1. Log in to ArcGIS QuickCapture Web Designer, and click the affected project to view it.
2. Click the button in the project to display the Button pane.
3. In the Button pane, on the DATA tab, scroll down and enable the Take photo option.

Note:
Press and hold Shift on the keyboard to select and configure multiple buttons at once.

4. Click Save to save the configurations of the project.
5. Open the project in ArcGIS QuickCapture. When the Update project? dialog box is displayed, click UPDATE.

Enable the editing capabilities of the project’s hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Online

For the take photo option to be enabled in the ArcGIS QuickCapture project, the hosted feature layer of the project must be editable. Log in to ArcGIS Online with the same credentials used in ArcGIS QuickCapture, and check the Enable editing. check box in the hosted feature layer settings. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Allow others to edit for steps to do this.
