The My Content tab is unavailable in Portal for ArcGIS and ArcGIS Online

Description

When attempting to access the My Content tab on the Content page in Portal for ArcGIS or ArcGIS Online, the My Content tab is not available. Consequently, the 'New item' and 'Create app' options are also unavailable on the Content page.

Cause

The role assigned to the user does not have the required privileges to create or share items with the organization. In Portal for ArcGIS, only the User, Publisher, and Administrator roles have the privilege to add new items and create apps. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: General privileges for additional information regarding the general privileges assigned to the default roles.

In ArcGIS Online, only the User, Publisher, Facilitator, and Administrator roles have the privilege to add new items and create apps. Refer to ArcGIS Online: General privileges for additional information regarding the general privileges assigned to the default roles.

Solution or Workaround

Note:
Only an organization's default administrator or a member with administrative privileges can perform the following workflow.

• In Portal for ArcGIS, change the user's default role to User, Publisher, or Administrator. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: Change member roles for instructions to change the organization's member roles on Portal for ArcGIS.
• In ArcGIS Online, change the user's default role to User, Publisher, Facilitator, or Administrator. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Change member roles for instructions to change the organization's member roles on ArcGIS Online.
