The Fitting Strategy tab is not available in ArcGIS Pro

Description

In ArcGIS Pro, when the label placement properties are configured in the Label Class pane, the Fitting Strategy tab is not available; only the Position and Conflict Resolution tabs are displayed, as shown in the image below. In addition, some of the label placement properties on the Position and Conflict Resolution tabs are not available.

Cause

The Standard Labeling Engine is activated. The Standard Labeling Engine has a smaller set of available properties to be configured and Fitting Strategy properties are only available when the Maplex Label Engine is activated. Therefore, the label placement properties provided by the Maplex Labeling Engine are not displayed.

Solution or Workaround

1. Open the ArcGIS Pro project.
2. In the Contents pane, click the desired feature layer.
3. On the Feature Layer tab set, click the Labeling tab.
4. In the Map group, click More and click Use Maplex Label Engine to enable the engine.
