PROBLEM

The feature class exists but can't be selected in the Schema Wizard

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

When reapplying a model, the feature class in the UML model can't be matched to an existing feature class in the geodatabase.

Cause

1. This problem usually occurs when the geometric network is built, but the complex edge feature classes are not selected correctly.

When reapplying a UML model, the Schema Wizard will only match UML classes to existing feature classes when the two have the same feature type. For example, a UML feature class inherited from a complex edge feature can’t be matched to an existing feature class that is a simple edge feature class.

2. This problem will also occur when the database is not specified in the SDE spatial database connection properties dialog in ArcCatalog for Informix and SQL Server.

Solution or Workaround

1. Change the UML model, or update the target class so the feature types match.

2. Make sure you enter a database in the SDE spatial database connection properties dialog in ArcCatalog.
