The Embed map and Create app buttons are disabled in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer

Description

When attempting to embed a map or create an app in ArcGIS Online Map Viewer, the 'Embed map' and 'Create app' buttons are disabled.

Cause

The hosted feature layer is opened in Map Viewer but not yet saved as a web map.

Solution or Workaround

To be able to embed maps or create apps, save the web map. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Save maps (Map Viewer) for instructions.

Note:
Additionally, the web map must be shared publicly (set to Everyone) to be successfully embedded.
