The Download data option is unavailable in ArcGIS Dashboards

Description

In ArcGIS Dashboards, viewers can download data from a data-driven element in dashboards by clicking the Download data option at the bottom of the element. However, in some cases, the Download data option is not available, as shown in the image below.

Cause

• The option to download the data of the element is not enabled.
• The option to export the hosted feature layer to other formats is not enabled. Data download is only available for elements that have a data source with the Export Data setting enabled. Refer to ArcGIS Dashboards: Requirements for more information.
• The dashboard is accessed by an anonymous user (not signed in to ArcGIS Online).

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, choose one of the workarounds below.

Enable the option to download the data element in ArcGIS Dashboards

1. Log in to ArcGIS Online. Click Content > My Content.
2. Browse to the dashboard, click More Options , and select Edit Dashboard.
3. In ArcGIS Dashboards, hover over the top-left corner of the element, click Options and select Configure. In this example, the List element is configured.

4. In the List window, on the General tab, scroll down to Data download and enable the Allow download option.
5. Click Done.

Enable the option to export the hosted feature layer to other formats

1. In ArcGIS Online, on the hosted feature layer’s item details page, check the Allow others to export to different formats. check box. Refer to ArcGIS Online: Allow data exports for more information.

2. In ArcGIS Dashboards, follow Steps 3 through 5 from the above method to enable the option to download the data element.

Sign in to ArcGIS Online

Users must be signed in to ArcGIS Online with a member account of the organization that owns the data shared via the public dashboard to access the Download data option.

Note: 
When data download is enabled, data can only be downloaded by users who are signed in to an ArcGIS Online account. For dashboards shared publicly that include elements with data download enabled, anonymous users do not see the Download data option on the element.
