The Configure App option is not displayed on the item details page of the web app in ArcGIS Online

Description

In some instances, the Configure App option is not displayed on the item details page of a web app in ArcGIS Online. The option is expected to display as shown in the image below.

Cause

This is a known limitation for certain app templates.

Solution or Workaround

Use one of the following methods as a workaround:

Create and configure the web app from the configurable apps gallery in Map Viewer

To add the current Esri default app templates to the configurable apps gallery in Map Viewer, refer to ArcGIS Online: Configurable apps for more information.

Alternatively, if a custom group is selected for the configurable apps gallery, share the app template to the group by following the steps below.

Note:
Sharing an item requires the right privileges. Refer to ArcGIS Online: User types, roles, and privileges for more information.

1. On the item details page of the app template, click the Share button.
2. In the Share dialog box, click Edit group sharing.
3. In the Group sharing dialog box, select the group currently selected for the configurable apps gallery. Click OK.
4. Click Save.

Create the web app from the item details page of the app template and configure in My Content of ArcGIS Online

Create the web app through the item details page of the app template. This allows the web app to be configured through the My Content tab in ArcGIS Online.

1. Log in to ArcGIS Online, and search for the specific app template.
2. Click the app template to enter its item details page.
3. Click the Create a Web App button.

4. Enter a title, the necessary tags, and a summary.
5. Click Done. The web app is saved under My Content, and the Configure App button is available on the item details page of the web app in My Content.
