The ArcGIS Server feature layer Export Data is unavailable in the ArcGIS Enterprise portal

Description

In the ArcGIS Enterprise portal, ArcGIS Server feature layers are also known as referenced layers or registered layers. When attempting to export an ArcGIS Server feature layer from the layer's item page, the Export Data option is unavailable.

Cause

This is a default setting for an ArcGIS Server feature layer, as it is stored in the ArcGIS Server of the ArcGIS Enterprise deployment. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: ArcGIS Server feature layers for more information.

Solution or Workaround

Export the ArcGIS Server feature layer using the Extract Data tool in Map Viewer

Note:
Ensure the Export Data and Enable Sync settings are enabled when publishing the feature layer from ArcGIS Pro. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Configure a web feature layer for more information.
  1. Log in to the ArcGIS Enterprise portal. Click Content > My Content.
  2. Browse to the ArcGIS Server feature layer, click More Options The More Options icon , and select Open in Map Viewer.
  3. In Map Viewer, browse to the ArcGIS Server feature layer and click Analysis The Analysis icon on the Settings (light) toolbar.
  4. In the Analysis pane, click Tools. In the Tools pane, expand Manage data and select Extract Data.
  5. In the Extract Data pane, for Input layers, click Layer. In the Select layer pane, under Map layers, click the feature layer to be exported.
  6. Under Extent settings, select the boundary for the exported data. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: Extent settings for more information.
  7. Select the preferred format for the exported data from the Output data format drop-down list. In this example, File geodatabase (.zip) is selected.
  8. Specify the name of the exported data under Output name.
  9. Click Run. The exported data is automatically added to the Content page in the ArcGIS Enterprise portal.
