The Add Field option is disabled in ArcGIS Pro

Description

In ArcGIS Pro, when attempting to add fields in an attribute table, the Add Field option is disabled, as shown in the image below.

Cause

• The feature layer of the attribute table is in an edit session.
• The table type is non-editable in ArcGIS Pro.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, choose one of the options below to resolve the issue.

Stop the edit session

In ArcGIS Pro, save or discard edits to stop the edit session. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Save or discard edits for instructions and more information.

Convert the table to an editable table in ArcGIS Pro

1. Open the ArcGIS Pro project.
2. In the Contents pane, right-click the table, click Data > Export Table.
3. In the Export Table window, configure the Parameters tab.
   1. Select the table from the Input Rows drop-down list.
   2. For Output Location, click Browse…. and select a geodatabase as the location for the output table.
   3. Specify a name for Output Name.
   4. Click OK.
