The actions for a category selector of a feature service based on grouped values are not available in ArcGIS Dashboards

Description

In ArcGIS Dashboards, actions describe changes in a dashboard when users interact with the dashboard’s elements. For example, the flash, pan, and zoom actions are used to interact with a map element.

In some instances, when configuring a category selector of a feature service based on grouped values, the actions to interact with the map element are not available, as shown in the image below.

Cause

This is by design, as mentioned in the ArcGIS Dashboards 11.1 documentation: What's new—ArcGIS Dashboards. The flash, pan, and zoom actions of a dashboard are only available when grouped values categories are used if the element’s data source references an ArcGIS Online hosted feature layer and only in ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 and later. These options are not available even when using a hosted feature layer in ArcGIS Enterprise 11.0 and earlier.

Solution or Workaround

Upgrade to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 and use ArcGIS Online hosted services

Upgrade to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.1 or later, as the flash, pan, and zoom actions are implemented in these ArcGIS Enterprise releases. Refer to How To: Upgrade to ArcGIS Enterprise 11.x for instructions.
