Text labels in callouts do not honor the word spacing in ArcGIS Pro

Description

In ArcGIS Pro, at times, text labels do not honor attributes with word spacing when callouts are defined. The image below shows the callouts on the map display with no word spacing.

Cause

The Word spacing property in the Formatting tab of the text symbol properties is set to 0%. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Text symbol properties for more information.

Solution or Workaround

Use the workflow below to change the word spacing property of the callouts.

  1. In ArcGIS Pro, in the Contents pane, right-click the layer containing the callouts, and click Labeling Properties....
Note:
If the layer contains multiple label classes, select the required label class in the Class drop-down menu of the Label Class pane. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Use label classes for more information.
  1. In the Label Class pane, click Symbol, and click Formatting, Image of the Formatting Icon in the Label Class pane.
  2. Expand Formatting.
  3. Set Word spacing to 100%.
  4. Click Apply.
