Site Starters: troubleshooting tips

If the Site Starters do not work, the following are the common problems and resolutions.


The ArcIMS ActiveX Connector is not installed.

If you are running Windows NT 4.0, the Microsoft XML control may not be properly installed.

The value or case of one or more constants in the global.asa file is incorrect.

Solution or Workaround

  • Ensure the ActiveX Connector is installed. The directory "C:\Program Files\ESRI\ArcIMS3.1\Connectors" should have been created.

    This install option is only available through the "Custom Installation" procedure.

  • Make sure the Microsoft XML control is installed. See the Related Information section for further information.
  • Review the values entered for constants in the global.asa file.
