Cause

ArcGIS Explorer uses the ArcGIS World Geocoding Service or other locators instead of the custom locator due to the following reasons:

  • The user is not logged in to the ArcGIS organizational account in ArcGIS Explorer.
  • The custom locator is not set at the top of the locators list.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, choose one of the options below to resolve the issue.

Log in to the ArcGIS organizational account in ArcGIS Explorer

In ArcGIS Explorer, log in to the ArcGIS organizational account before opening the web map. Refer to ArcGIS Explorer: Get started for more information.

Set the custom locator at the top of the locators list

  1. Log in to the ArcGIS Online organizational account.
  2. Click the Organization tab > Settings.
  3. On the Settings page, navigate to the Utility services option.
  4. On the Utility services page, navigate to Geocoding, and drag to move the custom locator to the top of the locators list.
