Printed layout files do not match layouts in ArcGIS Pro

Description

When printing layouts using the Print Layout button, the printed layout files do not display according to the layout in ArcGIS Pro. In some instances, the printed files display blank pages, or the map frame and other layout elements are cropped.

Cause

This is by design if the map frame is activated when printing the layout in ArcGIS Pro. The rest of the layout is not available until the Close Activation The Close Activation button. button is clicked on the Layout tab.

Solution or Workaround

The following steps describe how to deactive the map frame.

  1. In ArcGIS Pro, on the top ribbon, click the Layout tab > Close Activation.
Note:
Alternatively, click the Close activated map frame icon to deactivate the map frame.

  1. Click the Share tab > Print Layout. Configure the printing settings and print the layout.

Note:
Alternatively, export the layout by clicking the Share tab and select the Export Layout button to export the layout before printing it.
