PDF embedded using a URL is not displayed in the ArcGIS Instant Apps Portfolio template

Description

In ArcGIS Instant Apps, when embedding a PDF using its URL into the Portfolio app template, the PDF content is not displayed in the app configuration window nor in the published app. The image below is an example of how adding a PDF as a web page using the URL copied from the PDF’s item details page in ArcGIS Online does not display the Portfolio app configuration window.

Cause

Due to the browser security requirements, the web page is not able to host and display the PDF file if the PDF is added using a URL in the Portfolio template. Refer to ArcGIS Instant Apps: Data requirements for more information.

Solution or Workaround

1. Log in to ArcGIS Instant Apps and click the My Apps tab.
2. Browse to the app and click Configure .
3. In the Portfolio pane, under Sections, click + Add new section.

4. For New section, click File > Choose file, and select the PDF file.
5. Click Done and click Publish to save the configuration.
