PROBLEM

Layout is clipped when printed

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

A layout has all map elements inside the blue margin line, but when printed the output is clipped.

Cause

Layout margins are set smaller than the printer's margins.

Solution or Workaround

  1. Set the laymout margins equal to or larger than the printer's margins.

    Summary:
Steps to set layout margins equal to the printer's margins.

    Procedure:

    Windows:
    1. Select Layout -> Page Setup menu.
    2. Set Page Size to 'Same As Printer'.
    3. Enable the 'Use Printer Border' check box.
    4. Say 'OK' to Page Setup dialog.

    UNIX:
    1. Select Layout -> Page Setup menu.
    2. Disable the 'Use Printer Border' check box.
    3. Enter the correct margin settings for the intended printer. Landscape layouts will be rotated counter-clockwise when printed. This means the right margin in ArcView will be the top margin when printed.
    4. Say 'OK' to Page Setup dialog.

  2. Confirm all map elements are inside the blue margin line.
