Labels move or disappear after using drawing tools

After using the drawing tools to draw polygons or lines, labels disappear or are moved.
Cause
The default label weight is set too high.
Solution or Workaround
Change the label weight ranking for the default layer to 'none'.The steps to change the label weight ranking are below:
- Launch the Labeling toolbar. If you do not see the Labeling toolbar, open ArcMap and select Tools > Customize, and select Labeling.
- In the Labeling toolbar, click on 'Label Weight Ranking'.
- Click on the feature weight for the default layer, select None, and click OK.
