Description
A hosted imagery layer is not displayed when added to ArcGIS Experience Builder from the ArcGIS Online layer list. This behavior is also noted in ArcGIS Online when the layer is added to a map.
Cause
- The published imagery layer is a layer package and is not shared as a tiled layer. The imagery layer must be shared as a tile layer to be used in the web map.
- The imagery layer is published using an unsupported projection. ArcGIS Online Map Viewer uses the WGS 1984 Web Mercator (Auxiliary Sphere) geographic coordinate system as the default projection. Layers may not be projected on the map when using a different projection as the visible range is not at the right level, causing the map to appear hidden.
Solution or Workaround
Share the imagery layer as a tile layer
Share the imagery layer as a tile layer to ensure the layer is displayed in Map Viewer or ArcGIS Experience Builder. Refer to ArcGIS Server: Share imagery as a tiled map service for instructions.
Change the projection of the layer to WGS 1984 Web Mercator and overwrite the layer
- In ArcGIS Pro, add the layer to the map. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Add layers to a map or scene for more information.
- In the Geoprocessing pane, search for and click the Project tool. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Run a geoprocessing tool for further instructions.
- In the Project pane, configure the parameters.
- For Input Dataset or Feature Class, click the drop-down button and select the layer.
- For Output Coordinate System, click Select coordinate system
. - Search for and select WGS 1984 Web Mercator (auxiliary sphere).
- Click Run.
- Overwrite the layer to ArcGIS Online. Refer to ArcGIS Pro: Overwrite a web feature layer for further instructions.
- In ArcGIS Online, re-add the layer to the map in Map Viewer.
