Geoprocessing Wizard fails without error when merging PolylineM shapefiles

Description

When trying to merge PolylineM themes, the Geoprocessing Wizard completes half of the operation and then stops.

Cause

Creating and editing PolylineM shapefiles is not supported through the core interface of ArcView. Therefore the Geoprocessing Wizard will not merge PolylineM themes.

Solution or Workaround

1. Convert the PolylineM shapefiles to Polyline shapefiles. Use the sample xyz2xy.ave script provided in $AVHOME/samples/scripts directory.
   
   
2. Merge the resulting Polyline shapefiles. Use the Geoprocessing Wizard to do this.
   
   

   Warning:
   The resulting Polyline shapefile will not contain the measurement information.
