PROBLEM

Geoprocessing service does not take an image service URL when publishing a web tool that takes image service URL as an input

Last Published: May 3, 2024

Description

When publishing a web tool from ArcGIS Pro, the geoprocessing service does not take an image service URL or any other input.

Cause

This is due to the configuration in the Input parameter before publishing the service. By default, the Input Mode is a choice list, which only takes layers predefined before publishing the service.

Solution or Workaround

The solution is to configure the content input parameter before publishing the web tool. This can be used for any geoprocessing tool that takes raster as an input.

For this example, we are using Slope.

  1. In ArcGIS Pro project, add a raster to the map and run the geoprocessing tool.
  2. Click Open History, and right-click Slope > Share As > Web Tool.
  1. In the Share As Web Tool pane, provide a name of the service and fill out all the information.
  2. Navigate to Content, and select Configure Tool Properties on the tool.
  1. Under the Slope Properties, change the Input Mode in Input raster parameter to User defined value.

The web tool is now ready to be published.
