PROBLEM
In ArcIMS Author, the file-based images do not appear in the directory listing after changing 'Files Type' from 'Shapefiles' to 'Image Files'.
The same raster data can be accessed and added in ArcCatalog and ArcMap.
World files containing spatial reference information are not present for the file-based image. In order for a user to be able to add a file-based image layer in ArcIMS Author, an associated and valid world file must be present in the same directory as the image. A world file contains information regarding the transformation of image coordinates to real-world coordinates.
In general world files use the same name as the image, with a "w" appended. The following are examples of world file extensions for the following image types:
TIFF image: .tfw
MrSID image: .sdw
JPEG image: .jgw
Note:
ArcIMS Author is unable to read and render JPEG2000 images (.jp2) and their associated world files (.j2w). JPEG2000 files must be added to the map configuration file (.axl) using a text editor. Please see the article in the Related Information below section for JPEG2000 images.
