PROBLEM

Feature selection is not honored in the ArcGIS Experience Builder Analysis widget

Last Published: February 19, 2026

Description

In ArcGIS Experience Builder, the Analysis widget includes all features in the input layer for a spatial analysis tool, ignoring feature selection from a connected widget, as demonstrated in the Map and Analysis widgets below.

The Analysis widget includes all features instead of the selected features

This issue also occurs in other widgets used for feature selection.

Cause

The Analysis widget currently does not support feature selection from connected widgets as the input source, so it does not automatically filter or limit the input based on the selected features.

Solution or Workaround

Note:
Ensure the Set as Analysis input data action is checked under Data action on the Action tab of the connected widgets before configuring the data action for the selected features.

Use the Select widget

  1. Open the ArcGIS Experience Builder web experience for editing. Refresh the web experience, if necessary.
  2. Navigate to the Insert widget panel.
  3. On the New tab, under the Data centric group, drag and drop the Select widget onto the canvas. Configure the parameters for the Select widget. Refer to ArcGIS Experience Builder: Settings for more information.
  4. On the builder toolbar, click Live view.
  5. On the canvas, in the Select widget, select an interactive selection tool.
The interactive selection tools from the Select widget
  1. Draw the selection on the Map widget to select the features. In this example, five features are selected.
Five features are selected using the Select widget

    2. For Select a parameter, select the input parameter.
    3. Click OK.

Note:
Alternatively, use the Table widget. After selecting the intended features using the Select tool in the Map widget, set the features as the analysis input using the Actions button in the Table widget. Then, repeat Step 8 from the solution above.
Click Actions and Set as Analysis input in the Table widget

The Analysis widget below includes only the selected features from the connected Map widget as the input for the Create Buffers tool.
