Description
In ArcGIS Hub, the Data Updated date displayed on the item details page does not correspond to the 'Data updated' date for the same item in ArcGIS Online, as demonstrated below.
This discrepancy causes inconsistencies when assessing data currency or updates.
Cause
Hub determines 'Data updated' dates differently from ArcGIS Online.
- Hub prioritizes item metadata, specifically Citation Dates such as Date Published or Date Updated, when populating these fields. Updating features, appending data, or editing records does not automatically update the metadata value.
- ArcGIS Online displays the system-generated last edited date, which updates when the item or its content is modified.
Solution or Workaround
Remove the Updated metadata field in ArcGIS Online
- Log in to ArcGIS Online using an administrator account.
- Navigate to Organization > Settings > Items and toggle Enable editing metadata on item pages on.
- Open the item details page of the affected item (hosted feature layer or hosted view layer).
- Click Edit metadata.
- In the Metadata Editor dialog box, click All metadata.
- Under Overview, expand Citation, and click Citation Dates.
- Locate the Updated field and click theĀ Clear icon next to it.
- Click Save.
After the Updated metadata field is removed, Hub falls back to using the ArcGIS Online system-generated last edited date. The Data Updated date in Hub now corresponds to the date in ArcGIS Online, as shown below.
