Description
In ArcGIS Experience Builder, when the Search widget is used to search for a particular feature on a layer, all other features except for the searched feature are not displayed in the Map widget.
The image below shows an experience displaying only the searched result in the Map widget.
In an instance where no results are returned by the Search widget, all map features are hidden in the Map widget, as shown in the image below.
Cause
- It is by design where the Search widget only displays the searched feature in the Map widget.
- All map features are hidden in the Map widget when the search and display fields set in the Search widget do not contain the searched feature.
Solution or Workaround
To resolve the issue, create a new data view to use it as the Search widget layer source and ensure the desired search and display fields are enabled.
- In ArcGIS Experience Builder, click Data
. - On the Data panel, browse to and click the web map card to open its details pane.
- In the details pane, on the Layers tab, click the feature layer card to open its details pane.
- In the feature layer details pane, on the Data views tab, click Create a view.

- Rename the view by clicking the Edit
button, and click Apply changes on the lower right corner of the window. In this example, the data view is named ‘Search data view’. - Configure the Search widget layer source.
- Click the Search widget on the canvas to open its configuration panel.
- On the configuration panel, on the Content tab, click New search source and click Layer source from the search source drop-down menu.
- On the Set layer source pane, click Select data, browse to the web map, and select the desired layer.
- On the Set layer source pane, select the data view from the drop-down of the selected data. In this example, the data view named 'Search data view' is selected.
- On the Set layer source pane, under Search options, click the Select searching fields and Display fields drop-down to select the desired fields in the Search widget.
- Click Save
to save the configurations.
