PROBLEM

Blank screen displayed when accessing ArcGIS Web Editor in the ArcGIS Enterprise portal

Last Published: April 15, 2025

Description

Accessing ArcGIS Web Editor in the ArcGIS Enterprise portal returns a blank page, despite a successful installation and proper user provisioning with the required licenses.

Cause

The portalURL parameter in the configuration file contains a placeholder value instead of a fully qualified domain name (FQDN) or DNS-resolvable URL.

 "portalUrl": "https://@sbaseurl@/",

This issue may be caused by a corrupted configuration file or improperly transferred or updated settings during a recent system upgrade or migration.

Solution or Workaround

Replace the portalURL value in the configuration file with the correct Portal for ArcGIS FQDN URL.

  1. Locate the configuration file at the following location:
C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Portal\apps\webeditor\config\app.json
  1. Open the file using a text editor such as Notepad.
  2. Find the portalURL parameter and replace the placeholder URL with the ArcGIS Enterprise portal URL.
"portalUrl": "https://FQDN_or_DNSAlias/",
  1. Save the changes and close the editor.
Note:
If blank pages persist after clearing the browser cache or using an incognito window, consider restarting the Portal for ArcGIS service.
