PROBLEM

ArcPress doesn't print or output looks bad when printing on color laser printers

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

When printing with ArcPress for ArcGIS Desktop, the results either do not print at all or the output is of unacceptable quality.

Cause

The ArcPress PCL drivers available in ArcPress for ArcGIS 9.0 and 9.1 are intended for printing on HP desktop inkjet printers and HP wide- and large-format printers that support the HP PCL3 GUI. HP laserjet printers cannot properly interpret this language, which leads to distorted output. See the associated link in the Related Information below for more information on printing with ArcPress PCL RGB.

Solution or Workaround

There are two alternatives to using the PCL drivers in ArcPress for ArcGIS Desktop 9.0 and 9.1:

  • Use the ArcGIS Desktop Windows Printer engine.
  • Export to EPS and use the PCL drivers in ArcPress for ArcInfo Workstation Print.

    Note:
