PROBLEM
When creating a data package for a published map, ArcMap freezes when packaging a large MrSID file and choosing File geodatabase/Compressed File Geodatabase/Compressed and Locked File Geodatabase as data format.
The issue is caused by the high compression ratio of MrSID files (the compression ratio is about 20:1). A MrSID file has to be first decompressed and then copied into the file geodatabase (or the compressed file geodatabase). If the MrSID file is too large, it will cause ArcMap to freeze.
When creating a data package for a large MrSID file, click the General tab in the Data Packaging dialog box, and choose 'Copy data in existing format' in the Data Format drop-down list.
