ArcGIS Maps for Office 5.0.2 cannot connect to ArcGIS Living Atlas on ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6

Description

Attempting to search Living Atlas in ArcGIS Maps for Office results in a lost connection, and crashes Microsoft Excel. This problem occurs when using ArcGIS Maps for Office 5.0.2 or earlier on ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6 or earlier.

Cause

This is a known limitation of ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6. or earlier.

Solution or Workaround

Upgrade to the latest version of ArcGIS Maps for Office. Newer versions contain a bug fix that makes it impossible to select Living Atlas when using ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6 or earlier. This fix prevents the lost connection and Excel crash.
