Accessing the ArcGIS Data Store site redirects to the Data Store Configuration site

Description

When attempting to access the default ArcGIS Data Store site, the browser redirects to the ArcGIS Data Store Configuration Wizard site.

The ArcGIS Data Store Configuration site

Cause

  • The ArcGIS Data Store configuration files are corrupted.
  • The ArcGIS Data Store directory has low disk space.

Solution or Workaround

Depending on the cause, use one of the following workflows.

Archive and reinitialize the corrupted configuration files

  1. Check the permissions for the arcgisdatastore folder.
    1. In File Explorer, navigate to the arcgisdatastore folder, which by default is located in the C:\ drive.
    2. Right-click the arcgisdatastore folder and select Properties.
    3. In the arcgisdatastore Properties dialog box, select the Security tab.
    4. Under Group or user names:, click Edit....
    5. In the Permission for arcgisdatastore dialog box, select the username or group for the ArcGIS Data Store service account.
    6. Under Permissions for <ArcGIS_Data_Store_service_account>, ensure all the Allow check boxes are checked.
    7. Click Apply > OK.
  1. Restart the ArcGIS Data Store service.
    1. In the Windows search bar, type services and click the Services icon.
    2. In the Services window, navigate to the ArcGIS Data Store service and click Restart.
Note:
After completing Steps 1 and 2, attempt to access the default ArcGIS Data Store site. If the page redirects to the ArcGIS Data Store Configuration site, proceed with the following workflow.
  1. In File Explorer, navigate to the etc folder, which by default is located in:
C:\arcgisdatastore
  1. Rename the arcgis-data-store-config.json file to arcgis-data-store-config.json_OLD.
  2. Rename the arcgis-data-store-config.json.history file to arcgis-data-store-config.json by removing the .history extension.
  3. Restart the ArcGIS Data Store service.
    1. In the Windows search bar, type services and click the Services icon.
    2. In the Services window, navigate to the ArcGIS Data Store service and click Restart.
Note:
After completing Steps 3 through 6, attempt to access the default ArcGIS Data Store site. If the page redirects to the ArcGIS Data Store Configuration site, proceed with the following workflow.
  1. Stop the ArcGIS Data Store service.
    1. In the Windows search bar, type services and click the Services icon.
    2. In the Services window, navigate to the ArcGIS Data Store service and click Stop.
  2. In File Explorer, navigate to the etc folder, which by default is located in:
C:\arcgisdatastore
  1. Rename the relational-config.json file to relational-config.json_OLD.
  2. Rename the relational-config.json.history file to relational-config.json by removing the .history extension.
  3. Start the ArcGIS Data Store service.
    1. In the Windows search bar, type services and click the Services icon.
    2. In the Services window, navigate to the ArcGIS Data Store service and click Start.
Note:
As a best practice, use the describedatastore tool located in the ArcGIS Data Store installation directory to determine the status of the data store. Refer to Portal for ArcGIS: describedatastore for additional information.
