Last Published: April 12, 2023

Description

When previewing or publishing an experience in ArcGIS Experience Buiilder, a widget's interactive buttons cannot be clicked if a Sidebar widget is placed in front of the buttons. In this example, the interactive map tools in the Map widget is visible but cannot be clicked when the empty panel of the Sidebar widget is placed over the tools as demonstrated in the image below.

A widget's interactive buttons are visible but cannot be clicked

Cause

The Sidebar widget takes up a fixed amount of space in the experience, which can overlap with other widgets. This prevents interactions with any widgets behind the Sidebar widget, regardless if it is minimized or not.

Solution or Workaround

Instead of placing the Sidebar widget in front of the Map widget, place the Map widget in one of the panels of the Sidebar widget.

  1. Open the ArcGIS Experience Builder project and navigate to the Insert widget panel.
  2. Under Layout, drag and drop the Sidebar widget to a desired position on the experience and configure its settings.
  3. Under Map centric, drag and drop the Map widget into one of the panels of the Sidebar widget and configure its settings.
  4. Click Save The Save button to save the experience.

The image below demonstrates the tools in the Map widget can be interacted when it is placed in the Sidebar widget when the experience is previewed or published.

The interactive buttons of the Map widget can now be clicked
