PROBLEM

A published story in ArcGIS StoryMaps skips to an embedded Microsoft Forms survey

Last Published: July 3, 2024

Description

When using the embed functionality in an ArcGIS StoryMaps story to embed a Microsoft Forms survey, the story skips to the embedded survey while scrolling the published page.

Cause

The URL used in the Microsoft Forms survey is not an iframe URL.

Solution or Workaround

Embed the survey form with the iframe HTML tag instead of using the standard URL in the embed functionality to prevent the page from skipping while scrolling.

  1. Copy the form URL with the HTML code using the <iframe> tag of the survey form. Refer to the third bullet point under Step 4 in Microsoft Forms: Send a form and collect responses for instructions.
  2. Open the ArcGIS StoryMaps story in builder mode. In the story builder, click the menu button The Menu button and click Edit story.
  3. Navigate to the Embed block containing the survey form and click Delete on the toolbar.
  4. Paste the copied iframe URL of the survey in a new Embed block. Refer to ArcGIS StoryMaps: Add embeds for instructions.
  5. Publish the story.
