Error: Object Reference Not Set to an Instance of an Object

Error Message

Processing a request when using the Microsoft Virtual Earth Search (currently known as Bing search) function in Business Analyst returns the following error:

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object."

Cause

This error occurs when the Analysis Extent is set to 'Whole map extent'.

Solution or Workaround

This procedure describes how to change the Analysis Extent from 'Whole map extent' to 'Current map view'.

Click on the Business Analyst dropdown menu, mouse over 'Set Analysis Extent' and click on 'Sets analysis extent to current map view'.
Re-run the Bing search.
