BUG

NITF image services may not start after upgrading the NITF extension for ArcGIS for Server from 10.1 to 10.2

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

After upgrading the NITF for ArcGIS for Server extension from 10.1 to 10.2 (NITF extension version 1.4 to 1.4.2.1), image services that serve NITF images may not start.

The issue applies to the upgrade scenario under same user account.

The issue does not happen if NITF extensions have not been installed before, or if the NITF extension for ArcGIS for Server 10.2 is installed using a different user account.

Cause

The NITF extension is not able to overwrite a preference setting file left over by previous versions.

Workaround

Follow these steps to remove the old NITF extension preference file.

  1. Find out the user account that runs ArcGIS Server: click Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services, to find out the logon account for the ArcGIS Server service.
  2. Go to the following location (substitute USER_NAME with the actual user account determined in Step 1).

    C:\Users\USER_NAME\.idl\itt\components-37-4_8-win32-m64

  3. Rename or delete the file enfa_prefs.sav.
