New layer names are not updated in Select by Location dialog box

Description

After opening the Select by Location dialog box and changing the name of a layer on the Table of Contents, the new name does not appear in the layers list on the dialog box.

Cause

The layers list on the Select by Location dialog box refreshes when the dialog box opens, or when adding or deleting a layer from the Data Frame.

Solution or Workaround

• Close and re-open the Select by Location dialog box.
• Upgrade to ArcGIS 9.x.
