Network Analyst: Memory increases when working with network analysis layers

Last Published: April 25, 2020

The memory consumption of ArcMap grows as more and more operations are performed on a network analysis layer.

Network analysis layers hold their corresponding input features and analysis results in memory. To support undo/redo capabilities, every edit is kept in memory as well. This includes the traverse results generated during analysis.

Solution or Workaround

If ArcMap is consuming too much memory after performing several operations on a network analysis layer, stop and restart ArcMap.
