PROBLEM

MPS-Atlas dynamic text elements lose dynamic properties after copy and paste

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

MPS-Atlas dynamic text elements copied and pasted within the same MXD or across MXDs paste successfully but lose their dynamic behavior.

This includes Feature Layer, Data Frame, and Coordinate dynamic text element types.

Cause

MPS-Atlas does not support copying and pasting dynamic text elements. Pasting a dynamic text element does not refresh or update the internal properties of that element.

Solution or Workaround

If an MPS-Atlas dynamic text element is copied and pasted within the same MXD or across MXDs, the element's properties must be reset.

  1. After copying and pasting an element, right-click it, and click Properties from the context menu.
  2. On the Dynamic Text tab, click the dynamic text element in the text field. For example, click [Feature Layer::<layer name>::<attribute name>] for a Feature Layer dynamic text.
  3. Reset the properties as needed in the <element type> Dynamic Text Properties dialog box.
