BUG

Moving the network dataset's feature classes outside of the feature dataset causes problems with the network dataset

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Description

In ArcCatalog, it is possible to drag and drop a feature class that participates in a network dataset outside of the feature dataset. However this can cause problems. For example, it is then not possible to build the network dataset.

Cause

The feature classes of a network dataset are not supposed to be moved outside of their feature dataset.

Workaround

Do not move the network dataset's feature class outside of the feature dataset. If they have already been moved outside of the feature dataset, move them back inside of the feature dataset.
