Description

Metadata editor classic in ArcGIS Online is planned to retire in Q1 2025 with the ArcGIS Online February 2025 update. You can continue to create and manage standards-based metadata using the improved metadata editor currently available in ArcGIS Online.  

Metadata editor classic in ArcGIS Enterprise is planned to retire with the second release of ArcGIS Enterprise in 2025. You can continue to create and manage standards-based metadata using the improved metadata editor currently available in ArcGIS Enterprise.  

Recommendation

Metadata previously saved in metadata editor classic for ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise continues to be available using the new metadata editor.   

Before the retirement of metadata editor classic in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise, users should identify any workflows using metadata editor classic and proactively begin using the new metadata editor as an alternative.
