HOW TO

Maintain the attributes of source rasters in a master mosaic dataset

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Summary

Instructions provided describe how to maintain the attributes of source raster datasets in a master mosaic dataset.

In this scenario, source raster datasets are compiled into a mosaic dataset. This mosaic dataset is then used as a source for compiling a 'master' mosaic dataset.

When adding mosaic datasets to a master mosaic dataset using the raster type of 'Raster Dataset', only the attributes of the source mosaic datasets are stored in the master mosaic dataset, and not the attributes of the source raster datasets. To maintain the attributes of the source rasters when adding mosaic datasets to the master mosaic dataset, the raster type of 'Table' must be used.

Procedure

  1. In Arctoolbox, expand Data Management Tools > Raster > Mosaic Dataset and double-click the Add Rasters To Mosaic Dataset tool.
  2. In the Add Rasters To Mosaic Dataset tool, select the Raster Type of 'Table' from the drop-down list.
