Large XY event layer is slow to draw and identify features

Description

When working with a large layer created from an XY event source, drawing speed and identify results are very slow.

Cause

The X and Y coordinate fields are not indexed. This slows down the queries on these fields.

Solution or Workaround

1. Select the table in ArcCatalog and right-click to open the Table Properties dialog box.
   
2. Click the Index tab.
3. Add new indexes to the table for the X and Y fields.
