Frequently asked question

Is there a limit to the length of a license file name?

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Answer

ArcGIS license files, ending in .efl9, must have a total length not to exceeding 66 characters (not including the .efl9 portion of the file name).

A file name longer than 66 characters results in failure of the License Manager installation or 'Update License' tool.
