Frequently asked question

Is it possible to show profiles from more than one surface on a single profile graph?

Last Published: April 25, 2020

Answer

Note:
This solution requires the 3D Analyst extension to be installed in ArcGIS for Desktop.

Yes, it is possible to show profiles from more than one surface on a single profile graph. This is possible by using the Stack Profile geoprocessing tool, available in the 3D Analyst extension in ArcMap. By inserting all surfaces in the Profile Targets section and setting a name for the Output Graph Name parameter, this provides a profile graph of all input surfaces.

For more information about the Stack Profile, refer to the following ArcGIS Web Help page: Stack Profile.

The graph can be saved using the Save Graph geoprocessing tool. When using this tool, specify the file extension in the output file name (such as .jpg to save the file as a JPEG image, or .pdf for a PDF file).

For more information on how to use the Save Graph tool, refer to the following ArcGIS Web Help page: Save Graph.
