Frequently asked question
When ArcGIS Enterprise 12.0 was released in November 2025, the ArcGIS Web Adaptor was certified with .NET 8 which was the latest LTS offered by Microsoft. Since then, Microsoft has released .NET 10.
Esri is currently working to certify the upcoming ArcGIS Enterprise 12.1 and ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 to be supported with .NET 10. This certification will be completed alongside the release of ArcGIS Enterprise 12.1 in 2026.
Once certified, If ArcGIS Enterprise 11.5 is already deployed, no additional steps are necessary after completing an in-place upgrade of .NET 8 to .NET 10. The ArcGIS Web Adaptor is designed to work seamlessly with the latest version of .NET installed on the designated machine. Therefore, it will function with both .NET 8 and .NET 10 without necessitating any modifications. After the IIS restart is completed, as part of the post-upgrade process for .NET 10, both the Portal for ArcGIS and the ArcGIS Server Web Adaptor will operate with the newly installed version.
The same ArcGIS Web Adaptor (IIS) installer will work with both .NET 8 and .NET 10. The current build is designed to automatically detect and install the latest version of the ASP.NET Core Runtime – Windows Hosting Bundle.
Note: Esri recommends using the latest .NET version to benefit from improved performance, enhanced security, and feature compatibility.
