Internal Error 2755.1612 while installing ArcGIS 9.x

Error Message

While installing ArcGIS 9.x, the following error displays:

"Internal Error 2755.1612: could not find file C:\winnt\Installer\48675.msi"

Note:
The number at the end may vary.

Cause

The patch installation was started from a mapped drive or other removable source. This is a known problem with Windows Installer patches.

Solution or Workaround

Copy the patch file to a local hard drive, such as C:, and run the install from that location.
