Installing Portal for ArcGIS 11.1 in long form directories

Description

When performing a new installation or upgrade to Portal for ArcGIS 11.1 with an installation folder with a name greater than 34 characters, the installation process doesn’t produce any errors, however, the Portal service is not created.  Portal for ArcGIS will be missing from the Service Manager. 

The attached MST file can be applied to install (including upgrade) Portal for ArcGIS to an installation folder with a name greater than 34 characters.

Solution or Workaround

The transform file (portal1.mst) is applied during the installation of Portal for ArcGIS 11.1 as follows:

[path to Portal 11.1 setup.exe] ACCEPTEULA=yes TRANSFORMS=[path to the transform file]\portal1.mst

Example:

\\Setuparchive\11.1\Portal\Setup.exe ACCEPTEULA=yes TRANSFORMS=\\Setuparchive\11.1\Portal\portal1.mst

Any other installation values can also be supplied in the command.  Running the command as shown above installs in full user interface, allowing other values to be confirmed during the upgrade.
