Installation Aborted Internal Error

Error Message

When starting the installation of ArcGIS, the installer returns the following error:

Error:   
"Installation Aborted
Internal Error"

Cause

The environment variables TEMP and TMP are pointing to a directory inaccessible to the user.

Solution or Workaround

Change the values for the TEMP and TMP variables. The value should contain a directory to which the user has permission to write files.
