Description
ArcGIS Indoors Mobile may display a different occupant, unit, or other indoor data than the web-based Indoors Viewer. Users report one or more of the following:
- Indoors Viewer (web) displays current occupant information.
- Indoors Mobile displays outdated occupant information.
- Recent changes made to occupants, units, or other dynamic indoor data are visible in the web application but not in the mobile application.
Cause
The web-based Indoors Viewer and the mobile-based Indoors Mobile app can consume data from different map sources.
In the reported scenario:
- The Web Map used by Indoors Viewer referenced live feature services.
- The Mobile Map used by Indoors Mobile referenced an enterprise geodatabase (EGDB) feature class stored within the mobile map package.
Because the layer in the Mobile Map was packaged as a local feature class, any updates made after the mobile map package was created were not reflected in the mobile application (resulting in a 'stale' MMPK). The Indoors Viewer continued to display current information because it referenced a live feature service.
Solution or Workaround
Configure the mobile map package to reference the feature service instead of the enterprise geodatabase feature class
Note:
Only use data from a feature service layer for data that updates frequently; otherwise, use local data for optimum app performance. Referencing online content is only supported for some Indoors feature layers.
- Open the Map used to create the Indoors mobile map package in ArcGIS Pro.
- Review the data source of the problematic layer(s) by right-clicking the layer in the Contents pane and selecting Properties > Source tab.
- If the layer references an enterprise geodatabase feature class, click Set Data Source and browse to the location of the feature service.
- Select the feature service to change the data source.
- Save the map.
- Republish the mobile map package.
- Update the Mobile Map Package section in the Indoors Viewer app with the republished MMPK.
